Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club made 6 twenty six foot plumeria lei to dress the Statue to get our Mo'i Ready for the King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade to be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Pearl Harbor Members, Charles Kapua, Maydeen Maika, Toni Lee along with Moana Sanders Classmate DeeDee and Kathy Raymond from the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame sewed Plumeria Lei on Friday Morning to dress the Statue at 3:00 pm. We strung lei all day! We want to thank Toni Lee, Charles Kapua, Nola and Dr. Linda Nahulu, Lorna Pacheco and Moana Sanders for picking the flowers. We gathered at 9:00 am in the Choral Room at Kawaiaha'o Church to string the lei and finished at 2:45 pm for the 3:00 pm dressing of the Statue. We had enough lei to put on the Statue for the following organizations:
Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club - Charles Kapua Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs - Annelle Amaral Kamehameha Alumni Association - Brendon Kalei'aina Lee Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame - Toni Lee and Kathy Raymond Friends of the Royal Hawaiian Band - Toni Lee, Clarke Bright and Rodney Cazimero Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa - Toni Lee, Annelle Amaral, Charles Kapua and Kathy Raymond. We were all proud to present these lei to our Mo'i. There were many organizations that proudly presented their lei and the Royal Hawaiian Band started the program. It was a very chicken skin presentation with chants, songs and hula also presented as Ho'okupu. Our Mo'i was now ready for the Parade on Saturday morning, June 9, 2018.
