Due to the resignation of Penny Kalua as Second Vice President, President Charles Kapua, in accordance with our Constitution and By-Laws has appointed Lorna May Pacheco as the Second Vice President for 2018. To fill Lorna May Pacheco's seat as Board of Director, President Charles Kapua has appointed Chrissy Anjo as Board of Director.

Nominations should be postmarked by January 5, 2018 instead of January 12, 2018 as printed. The Award will be presented at our Installation Luncheon that will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018. President Charles Kapua presents U'ilani Kuie'e a Convention Booklet and a Songbird of Hawai'i Lena Machado Song Book. U'ilani was nominated as Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club's nominee for the Ke Po'okela O Kuhio Award (Outstanding Hawaiian Civic Club Member 2017) for the Association of Hawaiian Civic Club's 58th Annual Convention that was held in Seattle, Washington, October 29 - November 5, 2017.

Each one of these pine cones and Autumn Leaves are attached to the Wreath in remembrance of each member that has passed away since our last Convention in 2016. There was a total of 51 members that we lost over the year. Last year the Association lost 57 members. This wreath stands in the front of the room, stage left, in a prominent place so we may remember them all through the Convention.

Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club each year goes to Convention prepared with a Convention Book as seen here that has the assignments of Committees that each Delegate will sit on to deliberate the Resolutions that have been accepted for discussion at this Convention. The Convention Resolutions Chair is Dreanalee Kalili.
Each book contains a copy of the Convention Agenda, a Matrix of the Resolutions, a copy of the Resolutions and a copy of the Proposed Amendments to the Association's By-Laws. Mahalo to President Charles Kapua for preparing each Delegate to attend the Convention prepared. At every Convention, each Club is encouraged to submit their Outstanding members for Awards at Convention. Every year the Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club submits our nominations for these awards.
