PPHCC dresses our Queen at 8:15 in the evening on Saturday, August 26, after stringing the Queen's favorite purple Crown Flower from 9:00 am to 7:50 pm. With 14 of our members. In the picture is Lorna Pacheco, Toni Lee, Charles Kapua, Moana Sanders and Aldo Kuie'e! Mission Accomplished. Seven members picked the flowers for two days! We sewed 94 strands of the queen's favorite Pua! Onipa'a!

197th Anniversary - Ali'i Sunday for Queen Lydia Kamaka'eha Lilu'uokalani; 1820-2017, August 27, 2017 PHHCC Decorates Kawaiaha'o Church for Ali'i Sunday for Queen Lili'uokalani
Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club donates a Portrait of our Beloved Queen Lili'uokalani to Bill Haole of Kawaiaha'o Church for our Queen's Church, Kawaiaha'o Church, on the eve of her Ali'i Sunday. Our Beloved Queen was once the Choir Director of Kawaiaha'o Church of which is now being directed by Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club member, Nola Nahulu.
In the picture is our President, Charles Kanaha Kapua and 1st Vice President Moana Sanders. Immediate Past President Toni Lee is taking the picture. Truly a special moment for us! Membership Chair Kau'i Kaleo swears in Desiree Somera and Faye Takahashi to join the PHHCC 'Ohana. They are presented their lei and their Club booklet with a copy of our Constitution & By-Laws, Club Chant, Club Song and the Oli Mahalo.
On Saturday, August 19, 2017 our PHHCC decorated the 2 Koa Canoes with TI-Leaf lei and plumeria lei. President Charles Kapua, retired Staff Sergeant Major (E9) looks over our fallen Warriors Boots, pictures and Flags. 2nd Koa Canoe decorated by the PHHCC Members to honor our Na Koa Wounded Warriors Floral Bouquets made by Member Michael Kapua. Flowers donated by Carol Rosa, Toni Lee. Plumeria picked and Lei made my Amanda and Rowena Estores, Keli'ia'a 'Ohana, Lorna Pacheco, Nola and Dr. Linda Nahulu, Toni Lee and Charles Kapua. PHHCC demonstrate arts and Crafts at the Regatta. In the picture are Skylr Wong and Moana Sanders ti-leaf wristlets, Kainoa Manzano; Coconut Weaving. PHHCC demonstrates Lauhala Weaving with Lorna Pacheco and Alberta Low makes and demonstrates the Hu. Chrissy Anjo and Carol Rosa demonstrates fresh flower wili wristlets.
Sunday, August 6, 2017 PHHCC members attended Ali'i Sunday for Kamehameha III
At Kawaiaha'o Church. Kamehameha III was the son of Kamehameha the Great and Queen Keopuolani. King Kamehameha III reigned thirty years, 1825-1854, the longest of any King in HAWAI'I. In 1835 he decreed that a permanent house of worship be built. Plans for Kawaiaha'o Church were drawn by Rev. Hiram Bingham, and seven years later Kawaiaha'o Church was dedicated. In one of his speeches one Sunday he said, Ua mau Ke ea o Ka 'aina I Ka Pono....The life of the land is perpetuated by righteousness which later became our State's Moto. Attending the service and in the picture are Moana Sanders, Ka'iulani Hess, Mama Sandy Kaina, Charles Kapua, Kahu William Kaina and Toni Lee. On Friday, August 4, 2017, Scholarship Chair, Toni Lee presented two Scholarship checks to Tara Wilson, Director of Advancement and Executive Director of Pauahi Foundation from the Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club. These checks were presented to Tara for the Dr George H. Mills and Dorothy Gillet Scholarships for $1,250 each. Traditionally our Club gives to these two Scholarships every year.
