Sunday, August 6, 2017 PHHCC members attended Ali'i Sunday for Kamehameha III
At Kawaiaha'o Church. Kamehameha III was the son of Kamehameha the Great and Queen Keopuolani. King Kamehameha III reigned thirty years, 1825-1854, the longest of any King in HAWAI'I. In 1835 he decreed that a permanent house of worship be built. Plans for Kawaiaha'o Church were drawn by Rev. Hiram Bingham, and seven years later Kawaiaha'o Church was dedicated. In one of his speeches one Sunday he said, Ua mau Ke ea o Ka 'aina I Ka Pono....The life of the land is perpetuated by righteousness which later became our State's Moto. Attending the service and in the picture are Moana Sanders, Ka'iulani Hess, Mama Sandy Kaina, Charles Kapua, Kahu William Kaina and Toni Lee.
